The Cyclone is a spark arrestor and a dust separator/collection system.
The CYCLONE - Reducing the sparks amber
Potential ambering spark debris enters the Cyclone and are sent through a spiraling cyclone that creates turbulence and directs amber sparks smashing towards the walls of the Cyclone, which breaks them into smaller tinier pieces and causing them to lose heat and smother out.
The FUNNEL - Debris separation
The debris continues onto the funnel itself where debris is sent spiraling to the bottom of the funnel by centrifugal force and into the debris canister. Due to negative vacuum pressure within the Funnel the large majority of debris enters the plastic debris canister and is not pulled into the shop vacuum hose. Therefore, staying out of your vacuum itself, deterring ambers from reaching your vacuum and keeping your vacuum’s canister cleaner.
The Cyclone System is designed to reduce the chance of sparks getting to your vacuum and provides a cleaner workshop with dust separation, that can be easily discarded after tuning session.
Includes: Cyclone unit, Debris Canister, 3 meter flexible hose (for machine to cyclone), Quick Clip mount and bracket, 1.25" hose end reducer at vacuum in of the Cyclone.
Not supplied: Hose coming from your vacuum to Cyclone "vac in", Reducer to take larger 2", 3" or 4" hose to 1.25", your preferred method of mounting to bench (clamp or screws). The Cyclone does require the proper Snowglide machine model vacuum attachment (sold separately)
Important safety note:
Any metal grinding tool will create sparks and potentially ambers when grinding metal (in this case ski edges). When adding the vacuum to any metal grinding tool there is always a high risk of debris catching fire. Sparks and ambers can be additionally charged and fueled by the flowing vacuum air.
SPARK ARRESTOR FOR FIRE PROTECTION
NFPA recommends a spark arrestor in a dust collection system as part of a complete fire prevention system. Although a spark arrestor is a vital protection device. It’s important to understand that NO spark arrestor, even the Cyclone Spark Arrestor can guarantee 100% spark control. For this reason, we still highly recommend to reduce risk of fire we highly suggest you empty out and clean out all debris in your vacuum’s canister. As an additional precaution add water to the canister. There should be no debris or previously vacuumed items of any kind in your canister.
